Rights-in-childbirth activist, mother of four, certified doula and founder of BB&B! I had been a stay at home mother since the birth of my first son in 1995. Since then I had three more babies and loved being pregnant and giving birth. Every aspect of motherhood comes very natural to me and being a stay at home Mom had been the perfect fit. I live in Bethany, CT with my husband and children. As your birth doula I will help you achieve a calm and gentle birth. I will provide continuous emotional, physical and informational support. I will gently remind you of your birth plan. In labor it is easy to lose focus. I will help you with visualization and to stay as calm and relaxed as possible in between surges. I will provide comfort measures during surges. After the birth I will help you with skin-to-skin and baby self-latching if you plan on breastfeeding. My certifications include DONA International Certified: Birth & Postpartum Care, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) Healthy Children, Spinning Babies™️ Certified Parent Educator, Evidence Based Birth™️ Instructor, and ICEA Childbirth Education Certification. I also have a lot of experience with clients using Hypnobirthing techniques and am looking forward to helping you achieve your dream birth!

Certified Labor Doula & Lactation Counselor CLD (CAPPA), CLC

In 2017 I began training as a labor doula and, shortly after, found out I was pregnant. In a matter of weeks, the topic of birth went from a whisper of curiosity to something that was shouting my name. Hiring my doula was the best thing I could have done for myself and I am still reaping the benefits years later. My doula helped me to prepare for the birth that I wanted and cope effectively when it was not going my way. I walked away with a set of skills and a sense of confidence as a new mother which is priceless. I want to pass those tools onto other parents— whatever form their birth takes. I live in Newtown, Connecticut with my husband and two children. I have worked 12+ years in marketing and attribute my communication skills, organization, and ability to connect with people of different view points to that professional experience. I am a certified birth doula and lactation counselor, bringing a holistic and diverse approach to clients prenatal, birth and postpartum experiences. In addition to traditional birth doula support, my services include lactation, Spinning Babies, Mindful Birthing and postpartum support. My model of care combines warmth, intuition and evidence based knowledge, beginning at first contact and continuing well beyond the birth! I work as a birth doula in hospitals, birth centers and at home across Fairfield, Litchfield & New Haven counties (CT) and Putnam, & Westchester counties (NY).

This mother of 3 has experienced a lot & I'm here to support you as a birth doula. DONA certified, Certified lactation consulting, Certified Childbirth Educator, comfort measures, and postpartum.

My journey began during the pandemic with a compelling article in The New Yorker about a home birth. Not even knowing what a doula was at the time of my own births, I became enlightened by this role. Realizing that life perseveres even under extenuating circumstances, this kind of support is so relevant. I was drawn to this work and the birth world greeted me with a full embrace.

My background as an artist and musician has taught me how to improvise and individualize every situation based on essential evidence-based ideals. My focus is to give each family a positive, special birth experience.

I am also a fiber artist, bass player, budding accordionist, and lover of guinea pigs.

”She provided helpful tips, links and stretches for a smooth and comfortable pregnancy…. I felt reassured that she was only a phone call away…”

— ERIN D.

“She was knowledgeable, came with lots of resources and her evidence-based approach was helpful. She eased my nerves and helped me to get over some mental hurdles and anxiety that I had leading up to the birth”

— JEN P.

“From the start, we felt completely connected and comfortable with Colleen. She prepared us emotionally and physically for the birth.… She listed to our concerns and questions and provided answers or directed us to the right information.”

— VICTORIA & KEITH.

“The preparation she provided on the day of and in the months before allowed me to have a natural, successful and SHORT labor & delivery! I would recommend her to moms looking for someone you can rely on…”
